Rewind the year
A music video mixtape for New Year's Eve
You can make a New Year's Eve mixtape from one line, like "The last hour of the year, big singalongs saved for the end". You'll get a mixtape of music videos that keeps the room going until midnight. Audiotape makes mixtapes like this from any idea, and we call them tapes for short.
When to put it on
01
While people arrive
Put a tape on before anyone gets there, so the first guest doesn't walk into a silent living room.
02
The last hour
A 60-song tape runs a little over an hour, so press play around 10:50 and the last song, which plays all the way through, lands close to midnight.
03
After midnight
When the tape ends, everyone votes on their phone for Song of the Night, which gives the room its first argument of the new year.

MoreSong requests before the day
Send a request link with the invite. Guests add the songs they want to see, and you record a tape that starts from the favorites.
MoreTape Bingo
Everyone gets their own card of things to spot in the videos, like rain or a big group dance. Five in a row wins. You can also print a stack of cards for the tables.

Questions
- What music should I play on New Year's Eve?
- Play songs most of the room already knows, and save the biggest singalongs for the last stretch before midnight. Type something like "The last hour of the year, big singalongs saved for the end" and Audiotape makes a mixtape of the official music videos.
- Will a tape line up with midnight?
- It will get close, but it won't land exactly, because a tape doesn't watch the clock. A 60-song tape runs a little over an hour, so start it around 10:50 and keep a phone handy for the real countdown.
- Can I make one for kids?
- Yes. Choose Kids under Lyrics before you record, and we'll keep the songs and the videos right for kids. Plenty of families count down at noon instead, which has the advantage of everyone being asleep by nine.
- Are there New Year's Eve tapes I can play now?
- We haven't made a New Year's Eve Original yet, but the free Originals on this page all work for a party, and you can play any of them right now.
Make a tape of your own
