Terms of service
Last updated October 30, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and The Audiotape Organization, LLC d/b/a Audiotape ("we"), which runs Audiotape (https://www.audiotape.app). By using Audiotape you agree to them.
YouTube's terms apply too
Audiotape uses YouTube API Services, and every video plays in YouTube's embedded player. By using Audiotape you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. YouTube's handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy; ours is in the Audiotape privacy policy.
What Audiotape is
Audiotape lets you play mixtapes of official music videos on any screen, through YouTube's embedded player. The videos belong to their owners and are streamed by YouTube; Audiotape doesn't host, download or sell them. Videos can be removed or blocked by their owners or by YouTube at any time, so a mixtape may skip a song. Audiotape is free to use today; some features may need a paid plan later, and we'll update these terms before that happens.
Data from SponsorBlock
Audiotape uses data from SponsorBlock, a community database that marks the parts of a video that aren't music, to find where the music starts and stops in each video. We use it with SponsorBlock's permission.
Your account
- You need to be 13 or older to make an account. You don't need one to play a mixtape someone shares with you.
- Give your real name and birthday, and keep your email up to date: it's how you sign in.
- Pick a username that doesn't pretend to be someone else or offend people. We may change one that does.
- Mixtapes in your Collection are private until you share them. If you make one link-only or public, anyone who gets the link can play it, and public ones may be shown on Audiotape with your username. If we make a mixtape from your request, we can still open it to check it plays properly.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page; that deletes your mixtapes too.
- We may remove mixtapes or close accounts that break these terms.
Play nice
- Don't try to break, overload or get around the site's limits, or scrape it in bulk.
- Don't use Audiotape to download, record or re-host the videos it plays.
- Don't use it for anything unlawful.
Clean and Kids tapes
Clean and Kids tapes try to leave out swearing, and Kids tapes also try to leave out songs and music videos that aren't right for children. We check each song's published lyrics line by line and use AI to judge the videos, and both can be wrong, so a tape can still include something you'd rather it didn't. Please watch a tape yourself before you play it for kids.
No warranty
Audiotape is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, The Audiotape Organization, LLC isn't liable for any indirect or consequential loss from using it, and total liability is limited to the amount you paid to use it (which is nothing).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Changes and contact
These terms may change; the date at the top shows the latest version, and using Audiotape after a change means you accept it. Questions: privacy@audiotape.org.
