About Audiotape
We used to make these by hand
One tape took months.
Audiotape started as music video mixtapes cut by hand in a video editor, one at a time, for friends. Each one took weeks, sometimes months. Every official video had to be tracked down, every song trimmed to its best minute, and every song had to flow into the next one just right.
People loved them and kept asking for more, like one for a decade, one for a birthday or one of nothing but their favorite band. There was never enough time to make them all.
So we built Audiotape to do it for any idea. Type a line, and in about five minutes you have a music video mixtape, ready to put on any screen.
House rules
What we care about
A1
Only the real videos
Every song plays its official music video from the artist or their label, in the official player. We never download, copy or re-host a video.
A2
A tape is more than its songs
The order is the part we care about most. A tape builds, flips at halfway and saves the biggest song for last. A playlist doesn't do any of that.
B1
Watching is always free
Anyone with the link can play any tape, for good. We charge to record a tape, never to play one.
B2
Keep the surprise
The track list stays hidden, and each song shows up on it as it plays. Half the fun is not knowing what's next.
